If someone had said to me a year ago that I would become the face of a cosmetic clinic, I probably would have laughed.

To put it plainly, skincare has never been something I’ve been particularly interested in. I’ve always been good at looking after my body by keeping fit and active. Looking after my skin however just didn’t seem as important, outside of making sure I was wearing moisturiser and sunscreen.

Why I chose to become the face of Artisan

A funny thing happens when you start to get older though. Lines and marks seem to spring up overnight, sun damage takes its toll and your skin doesn’t look as fresh as it once did. At least mine didn’t. Suddenly, looking after my skin became a whole lot more important to me.

I began looking for ways I could hold off the ageing process for as long as I possibly could. That search led me to Artisan Aesthetic Clinics. I was more than a little nervous enlisting the help of a cosmetic clinic having only ever had the odd facial. I didn’t want to end up looking weird. My nerves disappeared as soon as I stepped inside.

The clinic was beautifully put together. It didn’t feel cold or too clinical. In fact, it was the complete opposite. It just felt really warm and welcoming. So that was a big tick for me.

My Artisan experience

My fears of being intimidated by perfect looking people who I couldn’t possibly look like were quickly put to rest. The team I was greeted by were friendly and totally down to earth. Yes, they were beautiful with great skin, but I felt like what they had was attainable and natural. So that helped to put me at ease.

I then went for a consultation with their treating doctor. I was confident knowing that I was being treated by a doctor, with a highly skilled team working with her. When you’re investing in something as important as your skin, you want to make sure you’re going to be in good hands. Knowing how much dedication and training is required to be a doctor, I felt really comfortable in Artisan’s care.

My appointment began with a consultation where my treating doctor analysed my skin and gave me her ‘no holds barred’ advice (something I really appreciated). She then recommended a personalised treatment plan for me that took into account my own goal, which was really just to maintain my natural, healthy skin. I liked that she took the time to listen to what I wanted and didn’t push anything onto me.

My Artisan treatment

I decided to start my journey to healthier skin by trying Artisan’s DMK Enzyme Facial, which was both strange and amazing. The main part of the treatment is an enzyme mask which goes onto your skin and slowly starts to harden over 45 minutes. The mask sets like scales, which wasn’t painful, but it was an odd sensation, and by the end of the 45 minutes, I couldn’t move my face. My clinician explained that the enzymes in the mask work to remove dead skin, clear congestion and smooth fine lines and wrinkles.

To be honest, I’m still not totally sure how it works, all I know is the results are amazing. My skin looked instantly clearer and plumper and continued to look that way for weeks after.

All in all, I couldn’t have been happier with my Artisan experience. It wasn’t anything like I expected, and I mean that in a good way. From the friendly staff to the personalised treatment, I felt totally comfortable and confident throughout and well and truly achieved what I wanted. My skin has never looked better and I’m getting so many compliments on how refreshed I look. I only wish I’d done it sooner.
