HOW IT WORKS

PRP is a simple and safe treatment that involves drawing, processing and reinjecting a small amount of your own blood, which delivers growth factors that stimulate the body’s healing response, boosting collagen and rejuvenating skin. It can treat the face, neck, décolletage and hands.

RESULTS

Results are visible within three to four weeks with optimum results at 12 weeks. Three treatments, four weeks apart, are recommended for best results, which last 12 to 18 months. Regular treatments will maintain results.

TREATMENT PREPARATION

Before your treatment:

  • Cease taking oral corticosteroids (e.g. prednisone) two weeks prior
  • Cease taking any non-steroidal, anti-inflammatory medications (e.g. ibuprofen, Voltaren, Celebrex, Mobic), ten days prior
  • Avoid or minimise alcohol consumption, blood-thinning medications (e.g. aspirin)  and supplements that increase bruising (e.g. fish oils, ginseng, omega 3 and 6, vitamin E, multi-vitamins), one week prior
  • Cease any topical medications and high strength cosmeceuticals containing vitamin A, retinol and glycolic acid, one week prior
  • Avoid microdermabrasion, aggressive peels and exfoliants two days prior
  • On the day of treatment, drink at least one litre of water and refrain from excessive exercise to assist with blood collection

Note: do not cease prescribed medications without first consulting with your general practitioner.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Prior to your first treatment, our clinician will consult with you to assess your suitability for PRP and discuss any concerns or questions you may have.

The procedure involves a small amount of blood being drawn, which is then centrifuged to separate the components. The platelet rich plasma component is then administered to the treatment area via a series of injections. The injections may sting for a few seconds (in some instances a numbing agent will be used).
