5 dermal filler myths

While one of the most popular non-invasive cosmetic treatments today, there are a lot of dermal filler myths that lead many to avoid the injections.

We’ve busted the five most common myths to help you understand the benefits of this treatment.

Before & after - Lip filler1. They are irreversible

One of the most common dermal filler myths is that they are permanent and the area that is treated will stay altered indefinitely. This is not true. The majority of dermal fillers will start to wear off after about six months and often, within one to two years, the treated area goes back to its original appearance. Results can also be reversed at any time with an injection of hyaluronidase, which dissolves the product instantly.

2. Dermal filler and anti-wrinkle injections are the same thing

Dermal filler and anti-wrinkle injections are often identified as the same product. While both can help treat fine lines and wrinkles, they are actually very different treatments. Dermal filler contains hyaluronic acid and is designed to plump the skin, aiding areas with volume loss by adding fullness to the area. In contrast, anti-wrinkle injections contain a muscle relaxant called botulism toxin type A. This product smooths out the skin by being injected into the muscles to temporarily restrict their movement. They are both highly successful treatments when administered by our qualified doctors and nurses.

3. I will look weird and people will notice a change

We understand clients do not want to look weird or have people notice when they have had dermal filler treatments. However, when being injected by a highly trained, qualified and experienced practitioner, the results are very subtle and natural. At Artisan, our team is focused on ensuring you feel confident, so meeting your needs is our main priority. Our doctors and nurses will work with you to create a look that is right for you.

Before & after - Dermal4. There is so much downtime

Dermal fillers are one of the least invasive cosmetic treatments available. There is minimal downtime involved as the needle used is very thin. Often, clients will return to work straight away or within one to two hours of dermal fillers.

5. I should try to find the cheapest price

What is most important with dermal filler treatments is not always the product itself but rather the skills and expertise of the person injecting. When it comes to your personal appearance, it is essential to have a skilled practitioner apply the correct techniques and amount of product that are appropriate for your facial structure. At Artisan, our cosmetic injectors are experts in understanding what is right for you.
