Fraxel® is a fractionated laser that treats the skin in small sections, stimulating natural cell renewal and collagen production. This process can help improve the appearance of wrinkles, acne scars, pigmentation and overall skin texture.
Fraxel® may be used on the face, neck, décolletage, arms, hands, legs and back.
Results typically occur five days after treatment with optimum results appearing at two to three months.
Advise your clinician if you:
- Are taking or have taken prescription Vitamin A tablets in the past six months
- Are taking any medications that may cause light sensitivity
Note: do not cease prescribed medications without first consulting with your general practitioner.
Prior to your first treatment, our clinician will consult with you to assess your suitability for Fraxel® and discuss any concerns or questions you may have.
During the treatment, the Fraxel® may cause an uncomfortable but tolerable hot, prickling sensation. A local numbing agent will be applied to ease discomfort.
Post treatment, your skin will remain hot for three to four hours but will dissipate significantly within the first hour. Redness and swelling will be present immediately after the treatment with most swelling noticeable the morning after, under the eye area. This can last between two to three days. While most redness resolves during the first week, a rosy ‘glow’ can remain for several weeks.
Your skin may feel tight, dry and itchy during the week post treatment. It often begins to bronze, peel and flake about three days after treatment. You may notice the skin has a ‘sandpaper’ texture a few days afterwards.
