HOW IT WORKS

Excel V™ is a high-powered laser used to target red, blue, purple and brown veins and pigmented skin lesions. The treatment works by affecting blood cells within abnormal blood vessels and pigment in dark skin spots, which the body then naturally eliminates over time.

Excel V™ laser can be used on areas of the face and body.

RESULTS

Results range from immediate to gradual, depending on the treatment area and/or condition being treated. Regular treatments will help to maintain results

TREATMENT PREPARATION
  • Avoid excessive sun exposure or fake tanning for two to four weeks prior
  • Cease taking blood thinning medication and supplements including fish oil and St John’s-wort to minimise the risk of bruising
  • Consider taking natural supplements or antiviral medication for prevention if you are prone to cold sores

Advise your clinician if you:

  • Are currently undergoing, or have undergone, isotretinoin treatment or with drugs in a similar class within the last six months
  • Are undergoing gold therapy

Note: do not cease prescribed medications without first consulting with your general practitioner.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Prior to your first treatment, your clinician will consult with you to assess your suitability and discuss any concerns or questions you may have.

During the treatment, a cooling gel will be placed on the treatment area, before the laser is glided over. No anaesthetic is required with most clients describing the treatment as relaxing.

Protective eyewear must be worn at all times and your mouth must remain closed to avoid potential teeth and eye damage from direct exposure to the laser.

WHO IS NOT SUITABLE

Anyone who:

  • Is pregnant
  • Has active sunburn
  • Has suspicious lesions or known skin cancer in the treatment area
  • Has metal implants in treatment area with thin skin (i.e.  jaw, orbit)
  • Has wounds or significant irritation/rashes in the treatment area
  • Has active herpes simplex in the treatment area
  • Has permanent dermal filler

If you are unsure, contact your clinic.

EXPECTED OUTCOMES
  • Discomfort during the treatment from the heat emitted
  • Redness, swelling, blisters and/or bruising which is usually resolved within a few hours. If excessive, contact the clinic.
POST-TREATMENT CARE
  • Avoid sun exposure and use a broad-spectrum sunscreen
  • Avoid excessively hot showers, saunas and spas for two days
  • Compression stockings may be worn for three to five days post leg vein treatment, if desired
  • Avoid high impact activity (running, jumping, heavy weights) for three to five days after leg vein treatments
  • Consider taking natural supplements or antiviral medication for prevention if you are prone to cold sores
  • Use gentle, non-irritating products after facial vein treatments
