Profound uniquely combines microneedling and radiofrequency technologies for an advanced skin tightening and rejuvenating effect. It works by penetrating the skin at a precise depth with tiny needles, before momentarily releasing a burst of radiofrequency energy (heat). This stimulates collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid, resulting in a tighter, smoother, more lifted appearance.

Profound is used to treat the face, neck, décolletage and cellulite.

Results may become visible at eight weeks post treatment with optimum results at three to six months.

Stay hydrated and keep skin moisturised
Avoid excessive sun exposure and use SPF30+
Cease taking anticoagulants including aspiring, ibuprofen, vitamin E, omega 3 fatty acids, St John’s wort, ginko bilboa and ginseng 7 days prior and following discussions with the treating doctor
If you are prone to cold sores, consider taking antiviral prophylaxis three to four days prior following discussion with the treating doctor
Avoid topical retinoids five days prior

Prior to your first treatment, our doctor will consult with you to assess your suitability for Profound and discuss any concerns or questions you may.

The treatment involves topical numbing cream followed by our doctor injecting a local anaesthetic into the treatment area before using the Profound device. As the skin is numbed, most clients do not experience any significant discomfort during or immediately after the treatment.

Anyone who:

Has a pacemaker or internal defibrillator
Has an active skin infection
Has a Fitzpatrick Skin Type V or VI
Has had facial laser resurfacing and/or deep chemical peeling within the last three months
Has had surgery within the last three to six months
Is taking or has taken isotretinoin (Accutane) in the past 12 months
Has had anti-wrinkle treatments in the past four months, dermal filler in the past 12 months, Collagen Rebuild in the past 18 months or PRP in the past four months

If you are unsure, contact your clinic. 

Pinpoint bleeding at insertion points
Swelling and bruising immediately post treatment, and maximum at day 2 or 3
Mild itching and tenderness to touch

Ice for 30 minutes directly following treatment at the clinic then every two hours for 30 minutes for the next 2 days after treatment. This will help to decrease the likelihood of indurations, extended bruising and swelling as well as increase comfort.
Avoid any exercise or any activity that would stimulate heat (i.e. bath or sauna) for the first 48 hours.
Wash with tepid water using a mild cleanser, two to three times a day for two days. Avoid scrubbing or trauma to the treated area.
Sleep with head slightly elevated and change pillowcase or lay a clean towel each night for two to three days. Avoid sleeping with pets.
Avoid sun exposure to reduce the chance of hyperpigmentation and use a minimum of SPF 30+ sunscreen.
Avoid picking at the treated area.
