Starting from 1 July 2023, non-surgical cosmetic medical procedures, including laser and skin treatments, are governed by updated guidelines established by AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency) (the Guidelines). The Guidelines require individuals under the age of 18 years to observe a cooling-off period of at least seven (7) days between providing informed consent and undergoing the procedure.
As a result of the Guidelines coming into effect, all clients who are under 18 will need to firstly book a Consultation. During this session, we will discuss the proposed treatment in detail, address any questions or concerns, and obtain informed consent from a parent or guardian. After the seven-day cooling-off period, we can proceed with your treatment, if you agree.
Additionally, if the treatment is a laser procedure, individuals under 18 years of age will need a written referral from a General Practitioner.
At Artisan, safety remains our top priority, and we welcome the regulatory changes in our industry. We believe the Guidelines are a positive step towards ensuring that all clients receiving cosmetic medical procedures are well-informed about their options and can make decisions confidently.
Should you have any questions or require further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact your local Artisan clinic.
